SCADA Multi-function Remote Terminal Unit(RTU)
 
Multi-function RTU is a device installed in the substation fields for monitoring and control of power equipment scattered around electric power fields as a multi-function remote terminal unit to acquire, analyze and process system operation data such as providing operation information of power equipment to the upper-level remote scada host or controlling power facility by command from Sub-Control Center and Regional and Control Center, etc. which is composed of MPD, FPD, and IAPD.

MPD (Main Processing Device)
 
MPD is a pivot part of multi-function RTU as the central processing device which performs connection among upper-level Host, FPD and IAPD acquiring information on power equipment field as well as efficient operation and management between systems, and transmits field Data acquired from the low-level FPD, IAPD, IED of system, power loss and abnormality status of each device.
   
  Main Processing Unit
 
   
Interface is possible by using upper-level Host system and SIO Board, data from the field is acquired through FPD/IAPD CPU Board while data is linked through Serial/Parallel Port in the board or SIO Board on VMEbus for connection with outside. In addition, it is operated as the main processing device of overall MPD device such as logging or saving operation of events produced from FPD/IAPD and conversion function for database, etc. and takes charge of pivot functions of reliable MPD device through high-speed data processing.

FPD (Field Processing Device)
 
FPD is used by being mutually linked with MPD in a unit Node form. It is the device which controls the field I/O Module of Digital Input Module and Digital Output Module and performs a function of transmitting the Data transmitted from Module to MPD.

It is the Module which controls communication with MPD and Digital Input/Output Module to perform monitoring and control of field equipment, and can control up to the maximum of 10 modules. It uses VMEbus of Backplane for communication with module.

Monitoring unit is an Interface Module for Digital Input and can process Digital Status. It is connected with CPU Module through VME BUS, with protective circuit for surge and preventive circuit for Debounce being embedded in the input unit. When integration is to be used, it can be used as a PI Module.

IAPD is the device which generates multiple power information(voltage, current, active/reactive power, frequency and power factor, etc.) by receiving CT/PT values of power equipment or measures analog information through the converter to provide to the upper-level MPD.
