      SPS-SPECIAL PROTECTION SYSTEM

      Product Overview

The SPS-SPECIAL PROTECTION PANEL is a protective system composed of a series of devices such as computers, communication transmission equipment, and protective devices to prevent widespread fault propagation in the power grid, including grid separation, generator shutdown, cascading disconnection of transmission lines, etc.

Its installation objectives are to enhance excessive stabilization (executing actions like generator shutdown and output reduction during major power plant system failures to improve excessive stability), improve voltage instability (conducting load shedding, transmission/substation equipment shutdown, etc., to prevent voltage collapse in metropolitan and regional interconnection system failures), and relieve overloads (performing load shedding, transmission/substation equipment shutdown, generator shutdown, etc., to alleviate overload in regional interconnection system failures).

Functionally, it involves load shedding during abnormal frequency deviation, load shedding during abnormal voltage deviation, partial generator shutdown during generator deviation, grid disconnection during system deviation, grid and load disconnection during overloads, voltage adjustment of generators during abnormal overvoltage situations, and reactor insertion. These functionalities are directly related to grid stabilization and the prevention of widespread blackouts, necessitating reliable functions in the protective system.

The protective elements of the SPS-SPECIAL PROTECTION SYSTEM include protection methods such as current detection, low voltage detection, overvoltage detection, frequency detection, etc., combined with external signal inputs (received from other substations, etc.), allowing the opening state of circuit breakers to be transmitted to other substations. The system is designed to be implemented flexibly in accordance with the operating methods of the power exchange under any circumstances.

The protective relays applied in the SPS-SPECIAL PROTECTION PANEL utilize advanced technology, such as Siemens' 7SJ8x, to ensure the reliability of protection functions and flexible implementation through CFC logic. These relays integrate accumulated production technology in protective relay manufacturing, noise immunity, insulation strength, stable grounding, durability, layout, etc., along with specialized personnel, thereby producing and supplying more reliable products.

      SPECIAL PROTECTION SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

The fault propagation prevention device unit is designed to accommodate both 345kV (1.5CB) and 154kV voltage levels, capable of accepting two voltage and current inputs, enabling the detection of power from two transmission lines, irrespective of voltage levels.
The unit comprises one protective relay, an Annuciator for alarm functions, and various switches. Among these switches, the 43M S/W can be tripped selectively based on generator identification, while the 43PD switch is configured to select the busbar voltage in the 154kV voltage system.
The configuration of the unit's application varies by site based on the operating methods of the power exchange. It supplies applied protection elements and user-defined logic based on the input current, voltage, and system requirements.
