      SHUNT CAPACITOR BANK PANEL

      Product Overview

In the power system, there are capacitors connected in parallel to improve power factor. When the load in the power system has a low power factor, using these capacitors can result in reduced line currents, minimized voltage drops, and increased system capacity.

Additionally, power companies offer power factor discount schemes on basic tariffs, incentivizing efforts to improve power factor and reduce power bills.

Especially with power shunt capacitors, they're considered high-cost equipment, causing challenges in repair time and maintenance. Therefore, ensuring reliable protection for shunt capacitors is crucial due to its direct association with power quality.

The protection scheme for shunt capacitors involves using overcurrent, reverse power, overvoltage, and undervoltage elements for primary protection, along with secondary protection detecting phase imbalances using overcurrent.

For the protection distribution board of shunt capacitors, employing advanced technology like Siemens' 6MD8x for primary and secondary protection secures the protective functions.

It integrates years of accumulated expertise in protection relay manufacturing technology, including noise resilience, insulation strength, stable grounding, durability, and layout optimization, offering a more reliable product in production and supply.

SHUNT CAPACITOR BANK PROTECTION SYSTEM CONFIGURATION

      • The 154kV Sh.C Bank protection is divided into System/Bank protection relays, consisting of two independent relays. The protection relay for the system utilizes elements such as overcurrent, reverse power, over/under voltage, and others to perform protection duties, including safeguarding against faults in the 154kV system and shunt capacitor facility failures. The protection relay for the Bank performs protection duties for each phase's capacitor to safeguard against phase imbalances in the equipment.
